I just put on a Dunlop MX 51 in the 90-100-21 size and it seems good so far. I took a test ride in the snow and did the Mesquite race with it. I usually notice pretty quick if I have a sucky front tire. I tried a 756 front once and took it off right away.

Thats funny you say that because I have that rear tire and the knobs just pretty much fell off. I hated it.

I have it on the back now. I like the rear version, but it wears pretty fast.

I have never heard anything good about any Maxxis fronts- ever. I have tried a couple myself and they both sucked

What kind of performance are you after? If you want long lasting performance the Maxxis or Dunlop 952 wear good but truly suck as far as traction goes. I have heard good things about Michlen starcross too. My favorite lately has been the mx31 front. That thing just flat works for me in a variety of terrain. It just doesn't last as long. I prefer traction over anything else.

What are you looking for? Traction, wear, flat resistance? For a long race I use a bridgstone gritty rear, they wear like iron and are stiff as hell. 739fa on the front for wear but the traction is pretty poor. I think next time it will be a 908rr for the front. I use those for general riding because i would rather trade some traction for not replacing them after a few rides or whatever is cheap. For shorter races I am going to try the bridgstone 402 and 204? I think those are the numbers but??? It all depends on what you want and where you ride.

I use the Bridgestone Gritty front, works well, I get almost two seasons out of them.

I used to have a pretty sour opinion on the Maxxis front tires, but after getting 2 flats during races last year I decided to try the IT Desert as it has a stiff carcuss and I like the IT desert rear. I actually don't mind the tire and it hooks really well as long as it is not muddy. I have had it out on a track and it really hooked well, granted the track was prepped really well and a racing slick would have hooked well. As far as wear, the thing is like iron. I will probably end up replacing it because of dry rott, not wearing out.

That's too rich for my money, I'd love to be able to have a new tire every time, but not financially possible, got to by oil and other stuff too.

Another vote for the Michelin, they are awesome. I have a Bridgestone 403 I'm going to put on as soon as my D756 wears out (shouldn't be long).

I ride tracks mostly and have been running the Kenda Millville front and rear. They seem to wear really good and I really like the performance. I buy tires all the time since my OCD takes over and I cant stand not to have a sharp edge. You can get both front and rear through rocky mountain for less than 100$. I buy the sticky too since we have a few concrete starts in Utah. I have no complaints whatsoever. They are also directional so you can have an intermediate tire and then reverse it for a sand tire. I do ride trails occasionally and havent had a flat yet. And compared to trying to mount a Maxxis they are butter.
