Good Times!
This was a really fun trail. We came through Grantsville and turned south on 400 W. We came up Willow Canyon Rd, just 3-5 miles south of Grantsville. There are a few places to stop and unload but we chose Davenport. Davenport splits the trail so we ended up riding one side, coming back and then riding the other. The south side is less rocky and more fun. There are several side trails along the way. Be sure to head west on a jeep road which eventually leads to an abandoned mine. Nothing on this trail is very difficult, just a good recreational ride. Take snacks, friends and have fun!
9.6 Miles of Hell
This is a very difficult trail. 5 miles would have been a reasonable distance to deal with but the hell lasts for 9.6 miles. We both ran out of water using 3 liter camelbaks + two water bottles. If you are going to attempt this trail, be sure to be adequately rested and bring snacks and food that will give you energy (not a 24pk of mtn dew and doritos). The scenery is breathtaking and the area is beautiful, however, the trail is tough and at some points, seemingly never ending. In retrospect, we are glad we ventured out on 5MOH but initially we were hating life.
This trail will test your endurance and skills, both mentally and physically. One piece of advice, if you are intimidated by what's in front of you, don't sit there and think about it... just hit the throttle and DO IT!!!
Excellent... Lots of Fun!!!
I rode this trail with my buddy on Saturday and it was a blast!. There was definitely more to ride than we had time for. The scenery is gorgeous and the trail can be challenging but for the most part it is just plain fun. We ran into a lot of cows up there, too. Younger riders might struggle with some parts of the trail. Highly recommended for lovers of singletrack, mtn riding.
